Computer modeling can be introduced into the secondary school course of physics as a creative research tool. It develops imagination, logical thinking, and critical thinking. Students learn to apply their knowledge of physical laws and phenomena to specific physical problems. Upon investigating such concepts as research activities and computer modeling, the authors designed a research program for 8th grade students in computer modeling of the physical properties of molecules and crystals. The program was tested and proved to be an effective research tool that allowed the students to expand their knowledge of physics, improve creativity, and develop critical thinking, as well as taught them to look for rational solutions to practical tasks.
